This week, our Foundation received a special invitation from the British Embassy in Kyiv — to celebrate the Official Birthday of His Majesty King Charles III. For us, this is more than a diplomatic reception. It is a recognition of the trust we have built together over the years — through the most difficult of circumstances. The United Kingdom is among 33 nationalities who our Foundation serves. Diplomatic missions are the first voice a family hears when they lose contact with a loved one on the front lines — someone who chose to defend Ukraine’s freedom. It is the embassies that recommend these families to us — at the moment when uncertainty weighs heavier than any news, and someone who knows what to do next must be there.

33 days,11 lives: vital count of our WIA program’s fight for survival across borders. This war has brought injuries of unprecedented complexity into our lives: the widespread use of drones and explosive munitions frequently causes combined trauma — multiple limb injuries, burns, organ damage, and severe infections. Treating them demands immediate, unconventional decisions, highly specialized professionals, and cutting-edge technology. Every hour lost can cost a person their life — or their chance at recovery. Recognizing the gap between what is needed and what actually exists is the first step toward closing it. Between the battlefield and survival stands logistics. Our goal is always the same: to get the wounded on time to where modern medicine can give them the best possible chance. More than 11 is not just a number. It is more than 11 times we picked up the phone, reached out to a hospital, pushed through bureaucratic walls, explained to a confused family what was happening, built logistics from scratch, and finally got a wounded person to  better care . Peace is built by people — those who survived and were given a chance at a future. Because between the words “wounded” and “healed” lies an enormous body of work —phone calls in the middle of the night, documents needed signing yesterday. Families who don’t know what to hold onto. Despite Russia’s ongoing war of aggression, the repatriation of remains one of the most difficult and emotionally demanding processes in restoring the identities of those who have perished. Every name carries a story, and every identified individual represents a step toward peace and closure for their family. One of our Foundation’s core missions is to support future justice — not by simply documenting the truth or acting as advocates, but by doing the work in the field and training forensic experts to return names to the dead. We do this to bring answers without retraumatizing those who still wait, moving through this darkness with unwavering dignity. Today we honored an American who gave the ultimate sacrifice fighting for Ukraine and her people. Saying goodbye to foreign volunteers on Ukrainian soil is where the sharp pain of war meets the highest human dignity. We cannot choose where we are born, but we are entirely free to choose our values and duty. Freedom has no nationality. It serves as a stark reminder to all of us who remain alive: the only thing that truly matters is what we devote it to. By honoring our heroes and enshrining their names in our history, we build timeless monuments for generations to come. Every day, our foundation witnesses the incredible resilience of the families we support. Their strength is about living through fear, exhaustion, and uncertainty. Today, thousands of those who serve are fighting for something that should be simple: the right to be with their loved ones. Some wait months for a single embrace measured in minutes. Some hold onto hope, counting days and prayers until their loved one returns home from captivity.
